90% of Canadian Employers Struggle to Hire Skilled Workers
BecomeACanadian Staff November 11, 2024 0 COMMENTSIf you’re looking for a job, you might be in luck, as more than half of Canadian companies plan to open new vacancies in the second half of the year, according to a study by Robert Half, a talent solutions and business consulting firm.
If you want to immigrate to Canada, Become A Canadian is your ideal ally. We guide you through each step of the migration process, helping you meet the requirements to achieve your new life in Canada.
The Hiring State in Canada survey, which interviewed 1,800 managers with hiring responsibilities, reveals that 52% plan to create new permanent positions, 41% plan to fill vacancies, and 58% intend to increase the number of contract and project professionals. The main reasons for these hires are business growth, employee turnover, project-based work, and a lack of skills in the current workforce.
Despite the growth expectations, managers face a significant challenge: finding the right talent. Ninety percent of respondents reported difficulties finding qualified professionals and 31% anticipate that the hiring process will be slower through the end of 2025 compared to the first half of 2024.
The prominent obstacles companies face are the need for more candidates with the required skills and finding people who align with the company culture and meet salary expectations. However, to overcome these challenges, employers are adopting flexible measures. Fifty-nine percent are willing to relax years of experience requirements if the candidate has the necessary skills, 39% offer hybrid work options, and 37% propose flexible schedules.
For job seekers, some of the most demanding positions to fill in Canada, according to the job search site Indeed, include e-commerce specialists, registered nurses for intensive care, veterinarians, and insurance agents.
