Become A Canadian could confirm that Canada has been ranked among the safest countries in the world according to the Global Peace Index (GPI) 2023 edition. 

Canada recorded a 2.9 percent increase in peacefulness, moving to the 11th position on the list of 163 countries studied in the Global Peace Index.

Become A Canadian could establish that the Global Peace Index measures peace in our complex world using 23 key indicators. These indicators were originally selected in 2007 and have been reviewed annually by the GPI expert panel. The scores of each indicator are normalized on a scale of 1-5.
