According to the findings of the Survey on COVID-19 and Mental Health (SCMH), one in four Canadians aged 18 and older (25%) suffered from depression, anxiety, or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in spring 2021, up from one in five (21%) in fall 2020.
Self-report screening techniques can track the incidence of mental health problem symptoms and diagnoses in the general population. A positive screen is not a medical diagnosis, and it does not always mean that an individual has a disease.
