One of the new citizens was Bhaudeep Singh, originally from India, who expressed his gratitude for becoming Canadian: “I feel very grateful to be Canadian because Canada has been amazing to me,” he told CTV News. The ceremony began at 1:30 p.m., with former lieutenant governor Lois Mitchell addressing the new Canadian citizens. “I have been a very fortunate person,” said Mitchell, emphasizing the importance of giving back to society.
